Andy Whitfield

You probably first noticed him in "Gabriel", the dark, apocalyptic 2007 movie about Archangels as the world's last hope for redemption (a premise literally mined-to-death by "Legion").

Well, this time Andy got me hooked via "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" (more on that on next post).

A forwarded email alerted me to this TV show, which started airing in January in the US via the Starz channel. The friend of a friend said:

"This show has more frontal male nudities than ROME and more violence, blood and gore than 300 (those spartans movie ba). anyway, the lead role is a British guy and he almost looks like that Aussie sa AVATAR (Sam Worthington). So sex is rampant din and it does show the sexual depravity sa ancient Rome or Italy (this happens in a town called CAPADUA am sure fictional town ito) and it is about GLADIATORS!!!!!! i dont know how u will hav access but i definitely will buy a DVD when the first season is out!!!!!!! nakakaloka, although puro MUSCLED/BEEF CAKE ANG MGA ACTORS DITO also may gay sex din!!!!! grabe!!!!!"

Well, just ignore the grammar and some of the details (Andy is UK-born and bred, but moved to Australia 10 years ago, if my memoray serves me right, so that makes him an Ozzie, like Sam Worthington and the original Gladiator, Russel Crowe) but beefcake, sex and gore on mainstream boobtube? I can understand it if its the movies (being an avid fan of Gerald Butler and "300") but on TV?

Guess, I didnt believe the friend-of-a-friend because I assume he's gay, and might have a tendency to exaggerate; so I downloaded the first five episodes (Episode 6 is already on my torrent downloader now).

Who would've thought Gladiators were that sexy! As discussed, it probably more nude men per square inch than say, all Pinoy Macho Dancer movies combined; sex scenes to rival Jose Javier Reyes' "Live Show" to boot; and, more importantly, full frontal of at least one hunk (not Andy though). How I wish I can post the video captures here (but you can send me your email, and I will forward them to you)...
